guh
I'm tired from work and trying to finish my comic.

I'm probably going to print it with Ka-blam instead of lulu, because they make the process fairly idiot/artist proof. If anyone out there has used them before and can tell me about your experience, please do. I would especially love to know how long they took to print/deliver your comics.

Anyway I owe some peeps a concert report, but I am not even going to try to make this make sense.

The opening band was boring, natch.

Juno Reactor did not disappoint. For a cheap concert in a small venue they gave a 125% performance.
I liked Inca Steppa, Pistolero, one of the first songs they did (I think it was Navras). Even some of the boring songs from the new album were transformed into amazing entertainment. CRAZY DANCING AND DRUMMING AND TRUMPETS AND GUITAROOING!

The crowd was a odd mix of nerds, goth nerds, some azn girls (who looked like they were there for Sugizo but I don't want to make assumptions). There were a handful of confused hipsters as well.

weeaboo corner:
Suigizo was GREAT EEEE. At first I was a little disappointed he didn't get to perform any of his own music (lol), but he brought his unique guitar and violin flourishes to the music. He had a great attitude throughout the whole loong concert, he was genki and always smiling, he didn't have the attitude that he was too cool to be there or EWW DIRTY GAIJINS or something
I kind of assumed all J-rockers were average looking people with 10 pounds of makeup, overexposed lighting and photoshop airbrushing BUT~! Sugizo is 100% genuine handsomeness although I think his nose is unnaturally beautiful.. Ughahg
he was like, made of pure sinew, he was wearing an awesome gothic kimono and his tattoos were cool. I GOT TO SEE SUGIZO TUNING HIS GUITAR AHH

First hand experience with Ka-Blam for multiple runs:

Make sure your files are perfect when you send them - I'm not sure how their queue is now, but it was CRAZY long when we put our order in, and they were missing their shipping dates. Prices can be crazy expensive too if you have a "rush" order so have your files ready MONTHS before you need them - if you want to save on costs.

Also, I suggest sticking with their usual "American-standard-comic" sizes. We had some trouble with their manga-sized trades. (Cropping was all weird, although the interiors were really nice.)

Check their boards for any problems as of late. Their service was great when their business was smaller, but since they've grown, they've had some problems keeping up with demand.

We had done a few runs with them - both were prepped about 2 months or so before we needed them in hand. We got one run about a week prior to our event. The second came shipped in batches, and those came sporadically over the course of a month.

Yes. A month. It wasn't totally their fault though - Priority USPS to Hawaii is sometimes stupid slow.

And as mentioned, we had some cropping problems, so about half the books were unsellable. (But again, these were manga trades - not comic books.)

So, depends on your runs. Colors come out nice and vivid. B/Ws are really crisp. Their covers are nice and glossy. Best piece of advice - just make sure you get your orders in about 3 months prior to your event. In case anything goes wrong. ^_^

Really quick.

The Mountain Goat Meat came from MPD Psycho, first book. Where the working [cubicle?] chick makes a bento and the guy is all, "OHHHH. YOU'RE SUCH A GOOD COOK! I WANT A WIFE LIKE YOU! Can I have some?" And she's all, "Suuure." And he's like, "<3<3<3<3<3 WHAT KINDA MEAT" "....Moutain.. Goat...." "YOU MADE IT PERFECTLY!" Later that day. "CANNIBAL!!!" "Whoops."
